Ranadhir Biswas

Ranadhir Biswas has been IdlyGo’s first sales agent who started vending from 3 February 2022 in front of Banshall Court. Before joining IdlyGo, Ranadhir worked with Reliance Communication in customer support and complaint management. He has a team of 50 individuals who used to resolve complaints for internet and phone division.

He lost his job as Reliance Communication shut down. He was earning around 15,000 monthly on contractual basis for more than 10 years. After that he joined Tikona broadband, which unfortunately also shut down. He wasn’t gainfully employed for almost 8–9 months during the pandemic. During this dire situation he found an opportunity with IdlyGo.

He recalls that one time while vending there was an awkward situation with his neighbour, an advocate that practices in Banshall Court. His neighbour made him feel embarrassed of his work and told other people in his neighbourhood.

However, Ranadhir is proud of his work and thinks that providing people with healthy and hygienic food is a meaningful vocation. He is doing very well and his business has grown from less than 50 plates a day to nearly 160 plates now! He believes there will be greater sales in the summer, since idlys are easy to digest even in the hot weather. Ranadhir also enjoys engaging with his customers and has built a good relationship with them, which is why many have become regulars at his cycle.

His family of four are also extremely supportive of his work. He stays with his mother, wife and son who will sit for his board exams this year. His wife is educated and supports him financially with by taking home tuitions and earning approximately ₹2,000 a month.

His earnings have grown since he first started and is happy to make more than ₹20,000 a month. He now feels financially secure and has also started saving for his son education. IdlyGo has thus changed his life and now he aspires not only for a good and healthy life for himself but also higher education for his son.
