Jagobandhu Sikhari
Bicycle Number HS05 | Age 25 years
Jagobandhu has been with IdlyGo since it began, before which he worked as a stevedore. Owing to the hectic nature of that job, he quit it. Recently married, he is happy with his earnings, which are significantly better than before.
Earlier, he would make about ₹15,000–16,000 per month; but that number has now increased to about ₹25,000–28,000 per month. As he claims, this was made possible only because of IdlyGo.
Jagobandhu’s father works at a sweets shop in Asansol, while his brother is employed with a prawn factory in Kerala. Meanwhile, his mother is a cook making mid-day meals for students at a school near the Sunderbans, while his wife is an undergraduate and private tutor. He and his wife live in Jadavpur.
Prior to joining IdlyGo, Jagobandhu was a street vendor, so had some experience in selling homemade street food such as masala muri, pakora, luchi, tarkari etc outside a park near his home.
He is now in a far better place financially than when he first joined IdlyGo. He is able to save more for his household after contributing to his family, which was not possible previously.
Jagobandhu sells about 230 meals every day, which puts him in the higher bracket for IdlyGo’s vendors. Despite performing a dazzling feat of selling 40 dosas in a single day, Jagobandhu fell behind in his vending owing to illness that led him to miss 4–5 days of work. He has regular customers, mostly office goers, who have given a favourable reception of IdlyGo’s offerings.
Jagobandhu has begun to utilise his income as an investment in LIC; he can now afford the yearly premium of ₹18,000. Furthermore, he will soon be able to afford to construct a new shop in a market near his home.
He wants IdlyGo to be successful and feels proud and happy to be working with the Company. When a customer once approached him, asking whether it was the same IdlyGo he had read about in the newspaper a few days back, Jagobandhu was delivered a proud ‘yes’ with a beaming smile.
