Amit Sardar
Bicycle Number BB03 | Age 26 years
Amit has been associated with IdlyGo for the last nine months, since it began. A resident of Tollygunge, he previously worked for JioMart as a delivery agent where he was assured a minimum income of ₹600 a day. Unfortunately, he had to leave that job when that assurance was removed. Previously, he had also worked with Zomato and Swiggy as a delivery agent, earning ₹700–800 a day. Nevertheless, he was never able to save more than ₹6,000 a month after paying for petrol and motorcycle maintenance.
Amit’s family comprises five members: his father is a chauffeur; his mother works as a cook; his younger brother studies at Ashutosh College; and his sister is married. He quit his studies after Class 10 owing to family issues.
Now his monthly income from IdlyGo is about ₹25,000, a portion of which he gives to his mother. Despite this, he is able to save about ₹5,000–6,000 every month. The best thing is that Amit has been able to indulge his passion for motorcycles by completely refurbishing his Yamaha F-Z motorcycle.
By 5.30 pm every day, Amit manages to sell a little over 250 meals with that number even inching up to 280 some days. His market is competitive and Amit has to vie for attention from customers with other vendors.
All said and done, joining the IdlyGo team was a good decision by him. He thinks, if things go well, he can increase his income to ₹30,000 per month.
According to Amit, IdlyGo has revived his dreams and aspirations for a better life, chief amongst which is his wish to reconstruct his ancestral home.
